How the numbers are built. Each asset is depreciated year by year from its date of capitalisation, so an asset whose useful life has already run out simply stops depreciating and never falls below its residual value. If you are picking up an existing register mid-life, put the audited opening WDV in the Opening WDV override column and the tool starts from that figure instead of re-deriving history.
  • Shift days increase the charge for that period by 50% (double) or 100% (triple), and are ignored for assets marked No extra-shift depreciation (NESD) in Schedule II.
  • Extra-shift days apply to the selected financial year only — earlier years in the from-inception simulation are treated as single shift.
  • Leave Sale proceeds blank for assets still held; enter a disposal date to stop the charge on that date.

How this works what the Companies Act schedule is built on
Income-tax opening balances last year's closing WDV, and the lower-tax-rate question
The extra 20% first-year depreciation is not available on that rate, so ticking this removes it everywhere. Which sections those are is in “How this works” at the foot of this schedule.
Opening WDV per block is a figure only you have — take it from last year's tax computation and enter it below. Additions and sale consideration are picked up from the asset register automatically. Assets capitalised and put to use for less than 180 days in this year get half the block rate.
